Quinn Carson came to Wallace, Colorado, hoping for a quieter life after years of dealing with violence in Denver. He soon discovers that small-town life has its own way of delivering trouble.

At the funeral of one of Wallace's longtime residents, Quinn meets the women who call themselves the Widow's Club. They gather for cards, dinners, funerals, and plenty of teasing—and they take an immediate interest in the handsome young deputy.

Several older residents die under circumstances that appear ordinary at first. But Quinn notices details that don't sit right. Are the deaths natural, or is something more sinister happening? As a deputy, Quinn knows better than to accept death without looking for a crime behind it.

Sara, head of the CBI forensics lab in Denver, has known Quinn since his days volunteering at the lab. She has her sights set on him, but when another woman does the same, Sara's jealous side begins to show.

And a serial killer from Quinn's past is still out there. More bodies are being found, and Quinn knows the killer hasn't stopped.

Now Quinn has deaths to investigate in Wallace, a killer to find somewhere in Colorado, and a group of widows determined to keep him company while he tries to solve both.
